A workshop entitled, “Outside the Box – iPad for SLPs – Apps Through a Language Lens” will be presented on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at our office located at 977 Main Street in Waltham, MA.
The speaker is Sean Sweeney, M.S., M.Ed., CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist and technology specialist working in private practice at the Ely Center in Newton, MA, who consults to local and national organizations on technology integration in speech and language interventions. Sean is a graduate of Boston University and has 15 years of experience working as a speech-language pathologist, spanning hospital, school and private practice settings.

1. Review of the Language Lens and FIVES Criteria for Evaluating Apps: Free, Interactive, Visual, Educationally Relevant, and “Speechie” (related to speech and language goals) with examples of iOS apps.
2. Explore creation tools for supporting speech and language through visuals, text and audio.
3. Increase familiarity with apps for professional development, finding apps on your own.
